Currently, the only requirement that we have it:  your website hosting company must support the installation of Joomla (version 1.5 or higher) software on their Web server.   And they must give us access to the program folder (along with appropriate permissions) so we can upload and configure your new site.  

This has been a major issue with several IT people and private hosting companies, so please check with yours before getting too excited about having a Joomla site on their server.  There is a limit to how much frustration we'll endure or free support we'll provide in trying to make your site work under such circumstances.

Most of the larger retail hosting companies already support Joomla, including:

If you're not sure about your hosting company, log into the control panel that comes with your current site and looking for Fantastico, a script library that includes automatic installation of the Joomla software.  If you don't have a website, we can recommend excellent hosting companies that we've been working with for over ten years.
