Frequently-Asked Questions about Website Design
001 How long does it take to launch a website?
We are happy to work at any reasonable pace that you set and can usually get a basic site finished in 8-10 hours of active design time. Learn more about the design process involved. |
002 How do I decide what style I want for my new site?
You are invited to spend some time browsing sites on the Internet that contain the look and feel that you like. Although we will never copy someone else's work, seeing what appeals to you will give us a good idea about how to build your site. Before our initial consultation, please bookmark a few sites that we can review together. We also have a collection of templates and third-party template sites that often prove to be a good source of inspiration. Visit our template library for ideas. |
003 What are the ongoing costs?
Your domain name expires every year and is subject to a renewal fee. You may choose to renew it for up to ten years at a time, usually at a significant discount over the standard $35 annual charge. Also, the website hosting company charges a monthly or yearly fee, depending on the hosting plan that you have. Part of our service is to help you select the best options for your individual needs, so we can usually advise you on what to expect for ongoing costs at the time of enrollment in these services. |
004 How do I register a domain (dot.com) address?
There are plenty of domain registration sites out there, but we have always had the best luck with Register.com and NetworkSolutions.com. Either site allows you to search for the domain address you want and sign up in a few short minutes. Of course, we are happy to help you with this process, too... just give us a call at 970-323-3456. |
005 What if I want to update the site myself?
We now have new tools available that allow us to upgrade your HTML site so you can update it yourself, using just your Web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome). You no longer need to buy (and learn) expensive Web design programs. Furthermore, these new sites are more search-engine-friendly and support many of the "bells and whistles" that you've admired for so long on other sites. If you'd prefer to keep your current HTML site and learn how to update it yourself, we'll be happy to provide training on Microsoft FrontPage or Microsoft Expression Studio Web. We can also teach you the basics, using free HTML editors such as Mozilla's SeaMonkey Composer. Call us today at 970-323-3456 to discuss your particular needs. |
